Greetings Youth Food Friends!

The Screaming Avocado Café and Slow Food Perth County are reaching out to encourage Canadian Slow Food convivia to recruit groups of youth participants from their communities to bring to the Slow Food Canadian Youth Terra Madre. This inaugural meeting of young food enthusiasts will be taking place on May 3rd, 2011. The event will take place at McCully’s Hill Farm (located between St. Mary’s and Stratford, Ontario), and will entail one day of programming.   The age range for participation is 14 to 17 years old.

Event programming includes cooking and gardening demonstrations, discussion forums, and taste education workshops. Participants can include school groups and/or community-based youth groups. Total youth participants will be capped at 200.

Maximum Youth Participants Per Group: 20

Minimum Supervisor Requirements: 1 Adult Supervisor per 10 Youth

Group Requirements: Each group is asked to bring along a cold dish for the Welcome Lunch Potluck.

Number of Youth Participating: 200 maximum

Number of Workshops: 3 per day per participant

Slow Food Youth Terra Madre 2011 Rules

  1. This is a 100% tobacco, alcohol and drug free event. If participants do not think that they can abide by these rules, do not bring them.
  2. All group leaders are responsible for obtaining parental consent and approving supervisors on their end.
  3. All students must be accompanied by a supervisor (adult over 21). All supervisors are 100% responsible for the youth in their charge.
  4. All participants must remain on the site upon entry until leaving: there are no in-and-out privileges. All participants will be given a wristband and those without a wristband will be asked to leave.
  5. ALL garbage you generate must be collected and brought out with you when you leave the farm.  
  6. No disposable plates, cutlery etc. There will be dish washing stations for everyone to clean their own dishes.
  7. Zero tolerance for disrespect to the property, to other attendees, to supervisors, or farm animals.

The Screaming Avocado Café en collaboration avec Slow Food Perth County lance un appel à tous les « Slow Food convivia » à travers le canada pour encourager des groupes de jeunes à participer au « Slow Food Canadian Youth Terra Madre ». Cette rencontre inaugurale aura lieu les 3 mai 2011 au McCully’s Hill Farm (situé entre St.Marys et Stratford, Ontario). Cet évènement couvrira une soirée de camping et deux jours d’activités. Les groupes participants peuvent, à leur discrétion s’inscrire à l’un ou les deux jours de l’évènement. L’âge des participants doit être entre 14 et 17 ans.
La programmation des évènements inclut entre autres des épreuves de cuisine et du jardinage, des forums de discussion et des ateliers de dégustation. Les participants peuvent être issus de groupes scolaires ou de jeunes groupes communautaires. Le nombre total de participants ne doit pas excédé 200 jeunes.

Responsabilité individuelle: Chaque participant est responsable de sa propre tente, sac de couchage, de ses équipements de camping etc. Il est demandé à chaque participant d’apporter ses propres assiettes, bols, ustensiles, tasses ou verres.

Les Régles de Slow Food Youth Terra Madre 2011

1.    Cet évènement est 100% sans alcool, tabac ou drogue. Si le participant pense ne pas être capable de suivre ces règles, notre organisation le prie de ne pas y participer.
2.    Tous les responsables de groupe sont tenus d’avoir le consentement des parents de leurs participants et celui de leurs superviseurs respectifs.
3.    Tous les étudiants doivent être accompagnés d’un superviseur âgé de plus de 21 ans. Tous les superviseurs sont à 100% responsables des jeunes à leur charge.
4.    Tous les participants sont tenus de rester sur le site de l’évènement pendant toute la durée des activités et personne n’est permis de faire des entrées et sorties sur ledit site. Un bracelet sera remis à chaque participant et ceux qui n’en posséderont pas seront priés de quitter le site.
5.    Tous les déchets générés durant l’évènement doivent être ramassés et envoyés en dehors du site avant de quitter la ferme.
6.    Il est également interdit d’apporter des assiettes et ustensiles jetables. Un endroit est déjà prévu pour vous aider à faire la vaisselle.
7.    La politique tolérance zéro est de rigueur en ce qui concerne le non respect de la propriété du site, envers les autres participants ou superviseurs et les animaux de la ferme.

I used my money to purchase everything he used he never collected a dime from. He told me I can repay him anytime with anything from my heart. Now I don't know how to do that.
